The Cedar Park Firecracker 4K drew its largest crowd ever over the Independence Day holiday weekend, with more than 400 runners participating in the sold-out event at Lakeline Park.

Unlike last year's race, participants enjoyed sunny skies and warm temperatures that climbed from the upper 70s into the low 80s as they completed the nearly 2.5-mile course around the lake.Organizers said registration sold out several days before race day, marking the biggest turnout in the event's history.

The race celebrated America's 250th birthday with a 4-kilometer course, equal to about 2.48 miles, looping through Lakeline Park. A Kids' Fun Run kicked off the morning, giving young runners a chance to race before the main event.

Uriel Rosas of Austin captured the men's overall title, finishing the course in 13 minutes, 18 seconds.

Rachel Chiella of Austin won the women's overall title with a finishing time of 16 minutes, 39 seconds.

All finishers received commemorative medals and popsicles after crossing the finish line.

The event was organized by Racing Minds, a nonprofit dedicated to making running accessible for families and youth. According to the organization, its mission is to provide "affordable, inclusive" events that help teach life skills through running.

Racing Minds plans to continue its community programming this fall with a Kids' Run Club series and the Halloween Hustle 5K, with registration now open for both events.
