On Tuesday, two senior officials from the administration of President Donald Trump made a visit to Texas A&M University in College Station. This visit coincided with the 100th day of Trump's presidency and centered on discussions related to agriculture and public health.

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins and U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. recently visited university facilities, engaging in discussions focused on food security and livestock health, as reported by the student newspaper The Battalion.

On Tuesday morning, Rollins, a Texas A&M graduate from the class of 1994, delivered a presentation at the Texas A&M Beef Center regarding the New World screwworm, a parasitic fly known to affect both livestock and wildlife. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the parasite presents considerable risks to both animal health and agricultural practices.

Their visit encompassed extensive discussions on agricultural policy, public health infrastructure, and collaborative university research initiatives.

After concluding their visit in College Station, the officials proceeded north to Hillsboro, Texas, where they conducted a tour of Sawyer Farms. The fourth-generation farm, operated by John and Natasha Sawyer, is characterized as an integrated agricultural production organization that includes storage and transportation facilities.

Kennedy's recent trip to Texas included a personal engagement in The Woodlands, where he showed his support for his son, William “Finn” Kennedy, as he participated in the Ironman Texas triathlon over the weekend. Finn finished the race, clocking in at 12 hours and 26 minutes.

The visit highlights the administration's commitment to enhancing domestic food supply chains and preventing livestock diseases by fostering collaborations between federal entities and academic institutions.
