After experiencing a hot and humid weekend, Central Texas is preparing for a significant shift in weather conditions, with a forecast indicating an extended stretch of rainy weather ahead.

A stalled frontal system is expected to remain over the region into midweek, bringing with it several days of rain and the possibility of thunderstorms.

Forecasters predict that the first wave of stormy weather will arrive early Monday morning. A Level 1 out of 5 risk for severe weather has been designated for the far northern counties, which include Mason, Llano, Burnet, Williamson, and Milam.

Early Monday storms are expected to bring the potential for damaging winds or hail, although they are not anticipated to be as intense as the storms that affected North Texas on Sunday night. Weather activity is expected to remain north of the immediate KVUE area until between 4 and 5 a.m. on Monday. A marginal risk will extend across Central Texas throughout the day, creating the potential for isolated storms in the afternoon and evening hours.

Widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected daily as the front stalls from Tuesday through Thursday.

On Tuesday morning, residents may experience another wave of substantial storm activity, prompting individuals with outdoor plans to stay vigilant and keep an eye on updated forecasts. A multi-day weather event is expected to bring significant rainfall, with totals ranging from 1 to 3 inches across the region over the next week. Some isolated areas may experience even higher amounts, potentially reaching 4 to 6 inches.

Residents living in the flood-prone areas are urged to secure a dependable means of receiving weather alerts. They are reminded of the essential safety message: "Turn around, don't drown."
