Early Sunday morning, Lee County Sheriff Garrett Durrenberger was taken into custody and processed at the Lee County Jail on allegations of driving while intoxicated (DWI), as stated by the Sheriff’s Office.
Durrenberger was taken into custody after a traffic stop and was subsequently released later that morning. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has reassured the community that law enforcement activities will proceed as usual, highlighting that the department is "fully operational" and dedicated to delivering professional services to the public.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is currently overseeing the investigation into the incident. No updates are currently available as per DPS.
