The National Weather Service says that Austin will have a string of sunny days this week. During the day, temperatures will stay in the low 90s, and at night, they will drop to the mid-60s.
With a light southeast breeze moving between 5 and 10 mph, today's high temperature will reach about 92 degrees. The sky will stay clear all night, and the low temperature at night will be a comfortable 66 degrees.
The warm trend is likely to stay in place through Columbus Day, with conditions that are very similar to Sunday's. The next day will have a high near 92 degrees and calm winds that will change to south-southeast winds around 5 mph in the afternoon. At night, the temperature will drop to around 65 degrees, and light winds from the southeast will blow.
Tuesday is the next day in a row of sunny days, with a high of 92 degrees and a light east-southeast wind of 5 mph. The National Weather Service said that it would be clear on Tuesday night and that the temperature would drop to 65 degrees with calm skies.
By midweek, there will not be much change in the prediction.
Austin will get a little warmer on Wednesday, hitting 91 degrees. There will be a light east-northeast wind that will not go above 5 mph. As night falls, the temperature will drop to 65 degrees under "Wednesday night mostly clear" clouds. The winds will keep the city in its warm, stable weather pattern.
This tendency is still the case on Thursday and Friday.
Today and tomorrow will both be sunny, with highs of 91 and 94 degrees. Overnight lows will rise from 68 on Thursday to around 71 by Friday night, making the evenings a little warmer.
There has been a clear, dry time in Central Texas in early October. This is normal because high-pressure systems tend to stay in place and keep rain chances low.
For now, Austin residents can look forward to a stretch of sunny days, calm winds, and warm afternoons. These are excellent conditions for outdoor activities, but please remember to drink water because the daytime heat will last well into fall.
