Severe Weather Threat Returns to Austin After Brief Midday Lull

Following a series of severe thunderstorms that swept through Central Texas overnight, residents of Austin experienced a short respite from the rain on Wednesday morning. Forecasters are alerting the public to the possibility of more severe weather approaching, with the highest risks expected to hit late this evening and persist into Thursday.

Experts indicate that the afternoon will be uneventful as a brief period of drier conditions sets in. As the afternoon progresses, there may be some scattered storms, but the primary system is anticipated to form in the evening and continue into the night. The upcoming period presents an increased danger of intense weather conditions along with an escalating possibility of sudden flooding.

“We are keeping a close eye on Wednesday night into Thursday,” stated a local meteorologist. “The ground is already saturated from early rain, and further downpours may lead to hazardous flooding situations.”
