Texas is demonstrating its status as a national leader in job growth, achieving historic employment milestones in March 2025.
Driven by robust business investment and workforce growth, the Lone Star State currently has the largest labor force it has ever seen.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Texas Workforce Commission report that the state's labor force has reached a new high of 15,778,500. Currently, there are 15,137,500 Texans in the workforce, which encompasses self-employed individuals as well.
Furthermore, Texas saw an increase of 26,500 nonfarm jobs in March, raising the total to 14,282,600 — yet another state record. In the last year, Texas has added 192,100 nonfarm jobs, surpassing all other states in the nation. The current annual growth rate for nonfarm jobs stands at 1.3%, according to data from January.
Governor Greg Abbott praised the expansion, attributing it to Texas' education and workforce strategies. “Each month, Texas invites businesses from all over the nation and the globe to innovate and invest in our remarkable state,” Abbott stated on Friday. “By increasing funding for our schools and enhancing career and technical training programs, we will equip more Texans for improved job prospects and higher salaries, contributing to a more prosperous Texas.”
Economists highlight Texas’ favorable business climate, minimal taxation, and strong infrastructure as essential elements fueling ongoing economic growth. The state has reliably drawn corporations and talent from all over the U.S., particularly from states with higher costs.
The ongoing growth in Texas is evident not only in job statistics but also in a consistent rise in population, which in turn drives economic development and increases the demand for housing.
As businesses keep establishing themselves and Texans discover fresh opportunities, the momentum of the Lone Star State remains strong. Currently, Texas stands out as a leader in job creation and economic strength amidst a fluctuating national landscape.
