The Texas Longhorns baseball team is headed back to Omaha after a dramatic 6-5 win over the Oregon Ducks baseball team in the Austin Super Regional.
Texas built an early 4-0 lead but had to rally late after Oregon surged ahead with five unanswered runs, taking a 5-4 advantage in the seventh inning.
The key moment came in the top of the eighth when shortstop Adrian Rodriguez hit a two-out, two-RBI double down the left-field line to put Texas back on top, 6-5.
Rodriguez’s hit was the difference as the Longhorns held off Oregon’s offense in the final innings.
True freshman pitcher Sam Cozart closed the game with a dominant two-inning performance, striking out four batters while allowing no hits or runs. Cozart recorded the final six outs, including a strikeout of Ryan Cooney to end the game and secure the save.
With the victory, Texas advances to the College World Series for the first time since 2022. The Longhorns enter the tournament as one of the top contenders under second-year head coach Jim Schlossnagle.
Texas will open play in Omaha against No. 3 Georgia, setting up a high-profile matchup as the tournament begins.
The win caps a hard-fought Super Regional series and reinforces Texas’ postseason momentum as the program seeks another national championship.
