Concerns are escalating in the Austin community as another young man's body was discovered in Lady Bird Lake last month, marking a troubling total of 38 bodies recovered since 2022.

Residents are increasingly concerned about a worrisome trend, prompting them to scrutinize the official position of local authorities, who seem to minimize the potential for wrongdoing.

An early-morning 911 call prompted officers from the Austin Police Department (APD) to investigate, leading to the discovery of a body that matched the description of a 17-year-old boy who had been reported missing just two days prior.

Authorities reported that the teenager went kayaking without wearing a life jacket and disappeared after stepping onto an underwater shelf. Authorities discovered a kayak with a backpack and life jacket, and the recovered body wore clothing matching his last known appearance. Authorities have yet to confirm the identity.

As reported by Fox 7, there have been at least 38 bodies discovered in or near Lady Bird Lake since 2022. Among the total, 30 individuals have been men, and approximately 60 percent of the victims fall within the age range of 30 to 49.

In light of recent developments, APD continues to assert that there is no indication of foul play or any ongoing threat to the community.

Forensic psychiatrist Dr. Carole Lieberman questioned these findings, stating to Fox News Digital that law enforcement might be minimizing the cases to prevent causing alarm. “Lieberman stated that the observation of 30 out of the 38 bodies being male indicates a potential trend. “If these fatalities were purely accidental or self-inflicted, there wouldn’t be such a distinct gender disparity.”

Speculation continues regarding the possibility that the individuals involved were incapacitated at establishments along Rainey Street, a well-known area for nightlife near the lake, which could have resulted in unintentional drownings.

As public concern escalates and patterns among the victims become increasingly evident, demands for a comprehensive inquiry into a possible serial offender are intensifying.
