In a landmark achievement for the program, Texas Softball secured its first-ever national championship, defeating Texas Tech 10-4 in Game 3 of the 2025 Women’s College World Series Championship Series on Friday, June 6. This historic victory marked the culmination of 28 years of dedication and effort, etching the 2025 team into the annals of Texas Athletics.

The celebratory spirit extended to Austin on Saturday, June 7, as the team returned home. In a time-honored tradition, the iconic UT Tower illuminated in burnt orange from top to bottom, proudly displaying a "1" on all four sides, signifying the NCAA team championship. Fans were invited to join Texas Athletics, Texas Cheer, Texas Pom, Bevo XV, Smokey the Cannon, and Hook 'Em in welcoming home the national champions from 6-7 p.m. at Red & Charline McCombs Field. Admission was free, and the first 1,500 attendees received a commemorative national championship poster.

This triumph marked the second team national championship for The University of Texas during the 2024-25 academic year, following the Men’s Swimming and Diving team's national title win in late March. With this latest victory, Texas boasted an impressive 68 all-time National Championships, including 64 NCAA crowns.

The Longhorns had demonstrated consistent excellence, securing multiple National Championships in each of the last five seasons. Over this remarkable five-year span, Texas programs had collectively earned 13 NCAA team titles across eight different sports. Excluding the COVID-shortened 2019-20 season, the University of Texas had clinched at least one NCAA Championship in an astounding ten consecutive seasons, solidifying its reputation as a dominant force in collegiate athletics.
